All The Wild Flowers

Yesterday my husband and I went for a short drive into the foothills near our home.  We drove probably about 30 miles up going towards Yosemite.  Normally there are many more flowers but not this year.  Maybe we went too late.  We saw purple lupine, baby blue-eyes or flax, common moneky flower or mustard flower (can't tell which is which), catalina ironwood and of course the ever popular state flower, the California poppy.  You'll see some random pictures of some gorgeous trees and Pine Flat Dam.

Hope you enjoy seeing a little bit of the central California foothills.

The Catalina Ironwood is my favorite - it looks like a blanket of snow huh?

Enjoy your weekend everyone!

  1. I love the purple Lupines. We had some growing in our yard and now they haven't come back. I love going up those roads as well. Perhaps next time we go to Black Oak Casino, we'll take a nice scenery drive that way. Great pictures. Have a great weekend.

  4. Ms. Jenny...how gorgeous!! We usually have Mexican poppies that grow on the northeast slope of Transmountain, but not this year....too dry...usually take my mother to see them, but was very sad to read there were just a scattering.

I recall visiting Yosemite when I was 3 years old!! You can imagine how those trees must have looked to a small child..they're pretty awesome to an adult!! LOL Someday I'd like to return, especially since my honey is an arborist.

    Have a great weekend.

    xxoo,
